Police were called at about 9:30 a.m. to the facility on Southwest Boulevard to help medics with a reported “construction accident.”
Victor Ortiz Pegueros, 35, was working in the ceiling for the installation of new bathrooms when he came into contact with an exposed wire and was electrocuted, according to police.
A police report states the man collapsed and did not have a pulse. He was pulled away from the wire by other workers.
The other workers called 911 and began CPR, police said. Pegueros was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
He was working with several other family members at the time, police said.
No other details were immediately available. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration told NBC4 it is investigating.
The Jackson Township Fire Department praised those on site for rendering aid until medics arrived and offered thoughts to the victim’s family, co-workers and anyone else affected.
Walmart has not yet responded to an NBC4 request for comment.
