Go back in time with CTA’s heritage fleet for Cubs-Sox Friday

CHICAGO — The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is going back in time for the Cubs-Sox series by bringing out one of its heritage fleet trains Friday evening.

The agency is bringing back a 2400-series rail car to take fans to the game at Rate Field for the 6:40 p.m. contest.

The train will depart the Howard Red Line station at 5:20 p.m. and head south. The CTA plans on on the train heading through the Loop

Two cars will be fixed with vintage ads.

They were first introduced in 1976 and feature blue and red for the bicentennial. They were most associated with the Green and Purple lines from the 90s through 2014 — when they were discontinued.

Cubs ace Shota Imanaga takes on Sox pitcher Adrian Houser, who is having a fantastic year, Friday night on the South Side.
