Energy bill assistance in Jefferson Parish July 25

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Rising temperatures spell bigger utility bills and families struggle to pay them.

For that reason, the Jefferson Parish Community Action Program or JeffCAP is hosting an outreach meeting Friday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hispanic Apostolate at 2525 Maine Avenue in Metairie.

“And what we are trying to do is insure equitable access to energy assistance for our income-eligible households in Jefferson Parish,” said Dr. Dionne Nicholls-Condoll.

The need is always great this time of year for the Low income Home Energy Assistance Program (LAHEAP). So the best practice is to get there early.

To process your application, you will need:

Sponsored
  • Louisiana ID for anyone over 18 in the household
  • Entergy or Atmos bills
  • Proof of income for everyone in your household

“At this particular outreach, we will be definitely paying Entergy assistance and Atmos Energy. So we’ll be doing gas and lights,” said Betrice Walker.

Depending on your circumstances, you may need additional documents.
