
CLEVELAND (WJW) — Drivers, be warned. You’ll be shelling out more money at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) starting in 2026.
drivers will see BMV service fees jump from $5 to $8. The service fee applies to most BMV-related transactions like driver’s licenses, state ID cards and motor vehicle registrations.
At the start of the year, Ohio
Additionally, annual vehicle registration and renewal fees will jump from $11 to $16, title fees will increase by $3 and counties will be allowed to charge an additional $5 on top of that.
The BMV fee increases were part of the recently passed state budget.
The $60 billion two-year budget will also remove a portion of the current law that allows 18, 19, and 20 year-olds to bypass driver’s ed. Instead, training will be required for everyone under the age of 21.
