By analyzing pricing data from 226 cities and metro areas nationwide, the study reveals where wine lovers are scoring the best bang for their buck. And when it comes to the Lone Star State, Austin leads the way with the lowest average wine price at just $10.64 per bottle, landing it 24th overall in the U.S. for wine affordability.
Other Texas cities to toast to? Harlingen ($10.97), San Antonio ($11.08), and McAllen ($11.09) also made the top 60 nationally for affordable wine. Even major hubs like Houston ($11.13) and Dallas ($11.31) are keeping prices relatively low, making it easier for Texans to sip without splurging.
On the flip side, Abilene holds the title for the most expensive wine in Texas, with an average bottle priced at $12.37. Waco, Longview, and Lubbock follow closely behind, all hovering above the $12 mark.Still, with many urban areas in Texas coming in under $12 a bottle, wine enthusiasts across the state can feel good about raising their glasses without raising their budgets.
