Triple digits for many: Thursday will begin where they have begun pretty much all week, around the ArkLaTex with lows mainly in the mid to upper 70s. Daytime highs will likely soar into the upper 90s to lower 100s. Many locations could see the hottest temperatures of the summer so far.
Dry weather continues, but hope is on the way: Futurecast shows that we will once again see a mostly clear sky on Wednesday night. Most of Thursday will feature lots of sunshine. We will start to see a few more clouds mix in with the sunshine Thursday afternoon. A brief shower cannot be ruled out over the southeast edge of the area late in the day or during the early evening.
There is some hope for some rain on Friday and Saturday as a disturbance moves into the northern Gulf. The National Hurricane Center indicates that there is a chance of tropical development; however, the chance is very low at only 10%. Rain will be very limited for most of the area, with the heaviest rain over the southern edge of the area.
Long-range outlook: The Gulf disturbance will bring a break from the intense heat as daytime temperatures will ease closer to normal in the middle 90s this weekend. Upper-level high pressure will regain control of our weather next week, keeping us dry and heating us up again with highs warming back to near 100. Overnight lows during the next ten days will stay in the mid to upper 70s.
