The Solano Foundry is slated to span approximately 2,100 acres and encompass around 40 million square feet to attract more manufacturing jobs back to California.
It’s also designed to facilitate research and development for faster performance, strengthen national security, and promote innovations within the state.
“For decades, California led the world in innovation by keeping research and manufacturing close together,” said California Forever’s Head of Partnerships, Michael Fortney. “But as production was moved overseas, this critical connection broke down — slowing innovation and weakening supply chains.”
According to California Forever, the purposes of the Solano Foundry include:
“The Solano Foundry is part of the new community, and is currently part of the discussions about annexation into Suisun City as part of the Suisun Expansion Plan,” said Fortney.
