Hassan Elliott, 26, of Philadelphia, was sentenced for the fatal shooting of Philadelphia Police Sergeant James O’Connor, and of Kaseem Rogers, Tyrone Tyree, and Dontae Walker.
He pleaded guilty in January to the charges stemming from those incidents and others tied to his membership in what federal authorities called a violent drug trafficking organization in northeast Philadelphia.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Elliott was one of four members charged in March of 2023. The others were Khalif Sears, 23, Kelvin Jimenez, 34, and Dominique Parker, 34.
Elliott and Sears pleaded guilty in January. Jimenez and Parker were convicted at trial this year.
Elliott and Sears had been previously indicted in March of 2020 in connection with the death of O’Connor when the Philadelphia Police SWAT team raided a home seeking Elliott for the death of Tyree. In that raid, Elliott fired 16 times, striking and killing O’Connor.
“Hassan Elliott murdered a police officer who was protecting and serving his community,” said U.S. Attorney David Metcalf for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. “The punishment Mr. Elliott received today is justice for these outrageous crimes, and our efforts — past, present, and future — to prosecute anyone who harms law enforcement will forever honor the sacrifice of Sergeant O’Connor.”
Sears, Parker, and Jimenez will be sentenced at a later date.
