LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Our Heat Advisory has been extended and expanded to include a few more counties across the FOX 56 viewing area. Spotty showers and storms become a bit more frequent as we head into the weekend as well.
Heat index values will range from 100 to 108 again Friday afternoon as high temperatures push into the low 90s with dew points in the mid- to upper 70s. That’s rainforest-style humidity.
In the afternoon, expect some spotty showers and a few isolated thunderstorms as the heat boils over again.
LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:
Into the weekend, it’s pretty much the same story both days. As a front drops into town and stalls out north of Kentucky, scattered storms will bring some pockets of heavy rain.
This is still a hit-or-miss forecast, and not everyone will get showers. Many will stay dry, but those that get hit by rain could see some heavy downpours.
Into next week, the heat builds more with highs in the mid to upper 90s and feels like temps pushing 110.
There is some relief in sight, though. Late next week, the large heat dome will work further west and weaken.
This lets a strong cold front barrel into town and brings more comfortable temperatures and less humidity to settle in.
