Former Texas receiver’s lawsuit against sexual assault accuser dismissed

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A former Texas Longhorns wide receiver’s defamation lawsuit against a woman he said wrongly accused him of sexual assault was dismissed in a Dallas federal court Tuesday.

Isaiah Bond, 21, filed a complaint against the 28-year-old woman shortly after he turned himself in to Frisco, Texas, police on a sexual assault warrant in early April. She is only identified as “Jane Roe” in court documents.

Bond posted a $25,000 bond and was released hours after he turned himself in.

Bond’s attorney, Kristen Mohr, said both parties agreed that the suit should be dismissed with prejudice. That means the case cannot be filed again. The original complaint requested a jury trial.

Jane L. Boyle, the judge presiding in the United States District Court of Northern Texas, signed the dismissal paperwork.

At the time of his arrest amid the allegations, Bond said they were “patently false,” and “I kindly request that all reserve judgment until the authorities provide a complete report based on truth and evidence.”

Bond caught 34 passes for 540 yards and five touchdowns for the Longhorns this past season, transferring after playing two seasons for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He said he was going to break the NFL scouting combine record in the 40-yard dash, held by another former Longhorn, Xavier Worthy, but his time of 4.39 seconds didn’t get it done. Worthy’s record of 4.21 seconds remains the best.

He was projected by some NFL analysts as high as a second-round pick, but once news of his arrest and the allegations against him hit, teams shied away from the speedy pass catcher and he wasn’t selected. He remains a free agent and can sign with any team.
