
(WPHL) — 10 people have been rescued after they were stuck on a sinking sailboat in Avalon, New Jersey, on Wednesday.
The boat ride began as a sailing lesson, and quickly turned into a rescue operation with over 40 lifeguards and emergency officials involved.
According to Avalon Beach Patrol, a mayday came in at 11 a.m. on Wednesday for a boat crash near the inlet off of 8th Street.
10 people from the Avalon Yacht Club were taking part in a sailing lesson when the boat’s engine suddenly failed.
Avalon Beach Patrol credits the swift response of its lifeguards to complete this tough rescue.
