Woodbridge father charged in death of 4-month-old son, police say

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A 22-year-old father from Woodbridge is facing charges related to the death of his infant son, authorities in Prince William County detailed Tuesday.

The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) said officers were called to a hospital just after noon on July 17 to investigate potential child abuse that reportedly happened at the Elevations One Apartments the day before.

Investigators said a 4-month-old boy was taken to the hospital after losing consciousness. Examinations revealed he sustained life-threatening injuries while in the care of his father, 22-year-old Gianni Romero-Coreas.

On July 20, the baby boy passed away from his injuries.

Romero-Coreas was arrested on July 17 and charged with aggravated malicious wounding and felony child abuse. He was held without bond.
