
Boyd, a South Carolina native currently resides in both Hoover and Florence, Alabama.
Boyd began his career working in manufacturing leadership roles both in the U.S. and abroad.
He contributes his work both in the private and public sectors for his unique understanding of how to grow opportunity, build strong organizations, and lead with integrity.
Dr. Boyd holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of South Carolina, an MBA from Regis University, and doctorates in Religion, Psychology, and Organizational Management.
He has served as Chancellor of St. James the Elder University and as Dean of Student Success and Assistant Professor of Management at Greenville College.
He is also an author of three books focused on leadership, values, and faith.
In public service, Will made history as the first African American elected to the City Council in Greenville, Illinois from 2009-2011, and later as the first African American major-party nominee for U.S. Senate in Alabama in 2022.
He has also served as the Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor in 2018 and for U.S. Congress in 2016.
Additionally, Boyd served on the Board of Directors for the Health Care Authority of Lauderdale County and the City of Florence.
Regarding his faith, Boyd is currently the Presiding Bishop of Zion Ministries, Pastor of the historic St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Florence, and patriarch of the Holy Catholic Church International.

He added “I am especially thankful for all who have worked hard alongside me to make changes worldwide. I sincerely pray my vision for serving the world provides a clear understanding how I believe we can lead our local municipalities, states, and nations forward!”
Will Boyd is a husband, father, and lifelong servant leader with a experience in business, education, and public service.
Other candidates in the race for Governor include Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville, former congressional candidate Ken McFeeters, Alabama entrepreneur Chad “Chig” Martin, Community leader and Activist Ja’Mel Brown, and Independent Artist Ronald Burnette Jr.
According to the Alabama Constitution of 2022, Gov. Kay Ivey will be ineligible to run for a third consecutive term.
The 2026 Alabama gubernatorial election is scheduled for November 3, 2026, with the primary election taking place on May 19.
