Utahns have a once-in-a-century chance to design a part of the State Capitol

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Utahns have a unique opportunity to submit a proposal idea for a “large commemorative element addition,” or a new monument, to the Utah State Capitol Grounds, an opportunity that only comes around every 100 years.

The proposal must meet all terms and conditions of the Utah State Capitol Grounds Commemorative Element Plan & Placement Guidelines, including commemoration specifications, funding requirements, selection processes, along with the timeline for future additions.

The process also requires filling out a Proposal Application Form, with a non-refundable $10 administrative fee. The deadline to submit both is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30th.

Each applicant will be notified of their proposal status as the field is narrowed down to semi-finalists, who will be asked to submit even more proposal elements.

More details on the proposal, application, and guidelines can be found here.
