Raymond Orozco, 22, was stabbed to death outside of a downtown San Jose nightclub on July 19, sources said. Police said the stabbing happened just before 1 a.m. on South Second Street.
“In a true faith of character of what amazing person Raymond was, he died while trying to protect and stop a woman from being beaten,” a GoFundMe page states. “Raymond was a kind soul. Raymond was taken from us far too soon in a senseless act of violence that has left their family, friends, and community in shock and deep grief.”
No arrests have been made and police are still searching for the victim’s killer.
Detectives learned that the victim was in a fight prior to the stabbing, according to the San Jose Police Department. The altercation may have been recorded on cellphone video by several “uninvolved bystanders,” and police are asking those witnesses to come forward.
Anyone who recorded the incident is asked to contact the SJPD Homicide Unit at 408-277-5283 or email Detective Harrington at 4365@sanjoseca.gov.
