CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A death investigation is underway in Caldwell County after a body was found in the water in a wooded area, according to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the 2200 block of Playmore Beach Road in the Collettsville community when someone surveying hurricane damage in the area found someone who was dead.
Deputies said Collettsville Fire and Rescue safely recovered the body from the water, which was later identified as 37-year-old Casey Shaun Wilcox from Hudson.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. Wilcox during this difficult time,” said Sheriff Kevin H. Bean.
