Pennsylvania Game Commission proposes new Sunday hunting dates

(WHTM) — While a Pennsylvania Game Commission plan expands opportunities, it does not open every Sunday for hunters.

Lawmakers repealed the state’s longstanding ban on Sunday hunting earlier this month. Ahead of public comment next week, the commission developed a proposal for new dates.

An agenda for the Board of Commissioners’ July 28 meeting shows it wants to add 13 Sunday hunting dates to the upcoming hunting license year. There are no Sunday hunts slated for 2026.

The proposed dates are:

  • Sept. 14, 2025
  • Sept. 21, 2025
  • Sept. 28, 2025
  • Oct. 5, 2025
  • Oct. 12, 2025
  • Oct. 19, 2025
  • Oct. 26, 2025
  • Nov. 2, 2025
  • Nov. 9, 2025
  • Nov. 16, 2025
  • Nov. 23, 2025
  • Nov. 30, 2025
  • Dec. 7, 2025

The dates apply to all hunting that may occur within an established game species in season.

Language in the agenda indicates the commissioners plan to approve the schedule. However, the meeting will be open for public comment.

Individuals wishing to comment should register by sending an email to pgcboard@pa.gov beforehand. Public comments at board meetings are limited to five minutes, and presentations are not permitted, per the Game Commission.

The board’s meeting starts at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 28, at the Game Commission headquarters in Susquehanna Township.
