On Tuesday, July 22, Jefferson Parish officials cut the ribbon on the first all-inclusive playground “Tripp’s Treehouse” in Metairie’s Lafreniere Park.
Parish officials say “Tripp’s Treehouse” is not just a playground but an inclusive environment for children of all abilities to explore, play and grow together, according to Councilwoman Arita Bohannan.
“Choosing to create an inclusive play space benefits the entire community because it recognizes everyone as an important member who is valued. Inclusive playgrounds become a space for everyone to enjoy, socialize, create healthy bodies and experience meaningful fun together,” said parish officials.
They add that the new playground promotes graduating complexity, independent access, parallel play, sensory engagement and social inclusion.
