According to a news release from the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office, an 18-year-old Dearborn Heights, Michigan man pleaded guilty to five counts of distribution of an intimate image, each a class A misdemeanor. A Level 5 felony count of child exploitation for the teen was dismissed.
The teen will serve one year in the Bartholomew County Jail after the guilty plea and then serve five years of probation, according to the release.
In March 2024, a teen in Columbus reported to the city’s police department that a man, later identified as the Michigan teen, posted intimate images of her on a porn site. The images also included her name and her home address.
A stranger contacted her, asking her for more images, the release said, and she recognized the original images as ones she shared with the Michigan teen.
After a search warrant was granted for the porn site, investigators were able to link the uploaded photos to the Michigan teen, even though the release said that the images were “removed shortly after being posted.”
“(Bartholomew County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force) investigators work with victims of crimes like this to get images removed from the Internet and hold offenders accountable,” Lindsey Holden-Kay, the prosecutor of Bartholomew County, said in the release.
