MCPD searching for missing man with autism in Rockville
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) is asking for the community’s help in searching for a man with autism.

In a post on social media, police issued a “Purple Alert” for 27-year-old Brandon Lee Smith. Police said Smith was last seen on Monday, July 21, near the 5400 block of McGrath Boulevard in Rockville around 2 p.m.

He was wearing a black shirt and pajama pants. Police described Smith as around 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing around 125 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Police added that when engaging with people with autism, it is important to approach them calmly and slowly. Avoid making sudden movements and speak in a gentle and reassuring tone.

Anyone who sees Smith is urged to call 911 immediately.
