
A man has been sentenced to 120 days in connection with a hit-and-run that critically injured Michaela Howk, a 26-year-old nurse.

In addition to his time in jail, 26-year-old Maurice Ladale Carter was sentenced to 18 months in prison, but the sentence will be stayed for the duration of his five years of probation.
Carter was approved to serve the 120 days on work/school release and furloughs.
As previously reported, the crash occurred just before 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day near Fourth Avenue Northeast and University Avenue Northeast. Family members say Howk was treated for head trauma, broken bones and spinal injuries.
