Docs: Thieves stole over $5M in electronics, Victoria’s Secret merchandise from semis

(WXIN/WTTV) — A group of men have been found guilty of at least 10 interstate cargo thefts that resulted in the loss of over $5 million worth of electronics, Victoria’s Secret merchandise and Bose speakers.

In total, six men have been charged and found guilty in federal court on charges of conspiracy and interstate transportation of stolen property. The men and their charges can be seen below:

Defendant Charges Status Sentencing
Juan Perez-Gonzalez, 51, of Florida Conspiracy; Possession and Transportation of stolen goods Found guilty Not yet scheduled
Carlos Freire-Pifferrer, 46, of Louisville, KY Conspiracy; two counts of Interstate transportation of stolen property Pled guilty August 22, 2025
Jose Gomez-Pifferrer, 33, of Louisville, KY Conspiracy; two counts of Interstate transportation of stolen property Pled guilty October 24, 2025
Dalwy De Armas-Rodriguez, 38, of KY Conspiracy Pled guilty August 28, 2025
Luis Velazquez, 58, of Jacksonville, FL Conspiracy; Interstate transportation of stolen property Pled guilty August 22, 2025
Richard Alameda, 47, of Florida Conspiracy Pled guilty September 4, 2025

Court documents detail how, between Dec. 2021 and May 2023, the men conspired to steal tractor-trailers, take the merchandise inside, drive the stolen goods to Florida and sell them at a discount for a large profit.

The men reportedly traveled to distribution facilities in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, targeting warehouses used by Meta, Microsoft, Harmon-JBL and L Brands. They then surveilled the facilities until they saw a semi leave with a tractor full of merchandise.

Investigators said the men would follow the truck’s driver and wait for them to stop, rest, refuel or park before stealing the entire tractor-trailer. They would then abandon the stolen tractor at a nearby location and reattach the trailer to another vehicle.

“To evade law enforcement, they painted over logos and identifying numbers and used different license plates on the stolen trailers,” prosecutors said.

The men would then drive the stolen goods to Miami, where they would sell to buyers for a fraction of the retail value. Richard Alameda was reportedly one of these buyers.

Investigators said that the group carried out “at least” 14 separate cargo thefts over less than two years. These thefts resulted in over $5 million in goods being stolen, including:

  • $2 million worth of Oculus and Meta virtual reality headsets,
  • $940,000 worth of Microsoft electronics,
  • $1 million worth of Bath & Body Works and Victoria’s Secret products,
  • $669,000 worth of Harmon-JBL audio products,
  • $180,000 in Logitech items, and
  • $480,000 worth of Bose audio speakers.

Prosecutors said this is Perez-Gonzalez’s third federal conviction for cargo theft.

His first case was in 2009 when he stole two semis carrying around $500,000 worth of liquor from a facility in Jeffersonville. In this case, he was sentenced to 23 months in prison.

Then, while still on supervised release in 2014, Perez-Gonzalez again engaged in conspiracy to commit cargo theft by using the exact same methods as the 2009 case. He was eventually convicted in the Southern District of Indiana and sentenced to 105 months in federal prison.

The case against these six men was investigated and prosecuted by the Indiana Homeland Security Task Force, with help from the FBI as well as Indiana and Kentucky’s state police.
