2 suburban malls ranks among the best in America, says USA Today poll

OAK BROOK, Ill. (WGN) — Two suburban malls have garnered national recognition as some of the best the nation has to offer, according to an annual poll.

Oakbrook Center in Oak Brook finished fourth among the nation’s ‘Best Shopping Centers‘ in USA TODAY’s 2025 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The publication highlighted the 63-year-old mall’s mix of upscale retailers, national brands, and dining options, as well as its seasonal events, walkable layout, and green spaces filled with interactive art installations. 

The west suburban shopping center commented on the achievement:

Located at 100 Oakbrook Center in Oak Brook, the mall is open seven days a week. Monday through Thursday, the shopping center is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and on Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Fashion Outlets of Chicago in north suburban Rosemont also received recognition on USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, finishing third amongst the publication’s 2025 list for ‘Best Outlet Mall.’

Praised as a two-level indoor center with more than 130 designer outlets, USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards says the publication highlighted the outlet’s dining options and curated contemporary art collection, as well as its climate-controlled setting.

Readers also heralded the outlet’s proximity to O’Hare International Airport.

Located at 5220 Fashion Outlets Way, the Fashion Outlets of Chicago is open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
