SELMA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Police are asking for help identifying two women seen on camera abandoning a cat and three kittens in Selma last week.

Selma Police say on Thursday, July 17, two women were seen abandoning a cat who is a mother and her three newborn kittens at the Freeway Lanes Bowling Alley. They were seen in a white SUV-style vehicle.

In the video (which can be viewed in the player above), one of the women opens the trunk of the car and takes out a box. She places the box down, and then the other woman gets out of the car, goes to the trunk and takes out a cat from the trunk and then places it in the box. They then both go into the car and drive off, leaving the cats.

Selma Police said that the mother cat and her kittens are all doing well. The mother cat received treatment on her injured eye and is on the road to recovery.

Officers say dumping animals is a misdemeanor crime under California law.

If anyone has any information about the incident, they are asked to contact the Selma Police Department at 559-896-2525.
