Weight restrictions in place for northbound I-39 bridge in Dixon

DIXON, Ill. (WTVO) — The Illinois Department of Transportation has issued weight restrictions for vehicles traveling on the northbound I-39 Kishwaukee River bridge after “critical issues” were detected and needed repair.

IDOT said vehicles must have a maximum weight of 20 tons. In addition, the right lane of the bridge has been closed to traffic.

Loads over 20 tons must exit at the Illinois 72 interchange and detour using westbound Illinois 72, northbound Illinois 251 and eastbound Bypass U.S. 20 to travel on northbound I-39.
