LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah (
ABC4) — The person who was
killed in a rock slide near Bell’s Canyon on Saturday has been identified, according to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim has been identified as David Mull, 49, of Salt Lake City. He was the only victim of the incident.
At around 8:45 a.m. on July 19, Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team responded to a report of a rock slide near Bell’s Canyon. A doctor had reportedly been hiking in the area and was the first on scene, rendering aid to Mull.
Despite life-saving efforts, Mull was pronounced deceased on scene. He was reportedly swept away by the rock slide, falling 700 feet to his death.
“This response was a collaborative operation between the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s
Office, Division of Public Safety, Unified Fire Authority, Sandy City Fire Department, and
Division of Natural Resources,” a press release from the sheriff’s office states.
