Another defendant has pleaded guilty in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme.
Asad Mohamed Abshir pleaded guilty to one count of money laundering in federal court on Monday.
Prosecutors say Abshir fraudulently claimed to serve over one million meals from J’s Sambusa — a tiny restaurant in Mankato. Under Feeding Our Future’s sponsorship, the distribution site fraudulently collected millions in federal aid.
Abshir’s co-defendant, Hamdi Hussein Omar, is scheduled to go to trial in August.
