Tuesday and Wednesday are both Forecast First Alert days for a reason. Daytime highs in the upper 80s to low 90s will combine with high humidity to produce feels-like temperatures near 100°. At the same time, multiple rounds of thunderstorms are possible, some of which could be strong to severe.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of Minnesota—including the Twin Cities—under a Slight Risk (level 2 out of 5) for severe weather both Tuesday and Wednesday, with damaging wind and hail being the primary concerns. Several parts of the state are also under a heightened risk for excessive rainfall and flash flooding.
Unfortunately, pinning down the exact timing and location of storms will be difficult, as the atmosphere will be primed for storms to fire up at any point throughout both days. If you have outdoor plans, be prepared to act quickly if a storm develops nearby.
The heat and humidity stick around through the weekend, with more scattered storm chances returning by Saturday and Sunday.
Stay weather-aware, and we’ll keep you ahead of every storm.
