Child neglect charges dropped in Shreveport case, body cam footage

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – On July 5, 2025, a young family dispute over a PlayStation used by their children led to escalated circumstances.

Calli Stevenson, mother of three, was arrested for three counts of child neglect. Those charges were later rejected

According to Shreveport Police Department (SPD), in situations when the well-being of a child comes into question, officers have considerable discretion in determining what they believe is appropriate during the investigation.

“We’re always going to err on the side of caution when it comes to children. You know, children in these kinds of situations are very vulnerable,” said Corporal Chris Bordelon, Public Information Officer for SPD. “So typically, we are going to contact our Juvenile Crimes Detectives, who typically deal with these kinds of matters. And ultimately, we did have to contact DCFS,” he added.
