SOMERSET, Ky. (FOX 56) — A death investigation is underway after a Somerset man died while in custody over the weekend.

Kentucky State Police announced that on Friday, July 18, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshal’s Service were serving an arrest warrant on Brian Turner, 47, at a home on KY Highway 1676.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

Before being arrested, authorities told KSP that Turner ingested a “substantial amount” of possible methamphetamine. He was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.

On Monday, July 21, KSP confirmed Turner was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Frankfort for an autopsy. Toxicology results are still pending, but the reported drug use is believed to be a contributing factor in his death.
