Right now, Ossoff is helping veterans who are at risk of losing their homes with the Veteran Affairs (VA) Home Loan Program Reform Act.
Last week, Sen. Ossoff passed legislation that allows veterans to rely on the Department of Veterans Affairs home loans to keep their homes even after late or missed payments.
The new bipartisan bill follows the shutdown of the Veterans Affairs Serving Purchase (VASP) Program, which previously served as the only program for veterans facing immediate foreclosure.
In May, Ossoff held a press conference with Georgia Marine Corps veteran, Samuel McCrary of Loganville, Georgia, urging the Trump Administration to reverse its decision on cancelling the VASP program and help veterans in the state keep their homes.
“Veterans benefits are earned,” Ossoff said. “This is a sacred contract between the American people and those who make tremendous sacrifices in defense of our nation. With the cost of living so high, now more than ever, the American people need to stand behind our veterans and help protest those who have served from foreclosure.”
As the bipartisan bill passed the U.S. House and heads to President Trumps’ desk to become a law, Ossoff continues to ensure that Georgia veterans receive their benefits and are protected from health safety issues.
In his continued efforts to support Georgia veterans, Sen. Ossoff also partnered with Sen. Susan Collins to introduce the Rural Veterans Transportation to Care Act that will help veterans in rural areas secure transportation to VA health facilities and health benefits they’ve earned.
