President Trump marks six months in office
WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President Donald Trump marked six months in office in his second term.

Over the weekend Republicans and Democrats called for the Trump administration to release more information about the Jeffrey Epstein case.

The House may vote this week on a resolution to urge the Trump administration to release all credible records but that has no legal weight to force the administration to comply.

President Trump posted on his Truth Social platform about ‘six months of winning, stacking up the wins and he says America’s decline is over’, but Republicans and Democrats continue to criticize the administration over the Epstein files.

“This is distracting from the focus on the things that the American people voted for in 2024,” said Sen. Dave McCormick (R-Pa.).

Before taking office, the director and deputy director of the FBI suggested Jeffrey Epstein’s suicide was actually a coverup.

Attorney General Pam Bondi promised to release more information, but this month the Justice Department said no further disclosure would be appropriate or warranted.

“I think they blundered in the beginning, but I think they’re going to finish strong,” said Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.).

On Friday DOJ petitioned to unseal and release grand jury transcripts and President Trump said, “even if the court gave its full and unwavering approval…nothing would be good enough for the troublemakers and radical left lunatics.”

“You know, this town does not give up its secrets easily and it’s just fighting and kicking,” said Burchett.

Democrats say the department could release some files without a court’s approval.

“As a former prosecutor there are times when you release things for the good of the country. This is one of those times,” said Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.).

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche filed that motion in court up in New York for the release of the grand jury transcripts.   A federal judge will have to weigh in to decide to unseal them and it could take some time as the request works its way through the courts.
