Chicagoland, get ready to sweat. After a mild start to the week, a wave of intense heat and humidity is on the way.
Monday brings a pleasant start to the workweek with sunshine and seasonable highs in the low 80s. While most areas stay dry, an isolated afternoon shower can’t be ruled out.
Tuesday will be slightly warmer, with highs climbing into the upper 80s inland and humidity on the rise. Lakeside neighborhoods will stay a bit cooler thanks to a breeze off the water.
But the real heat arrives midweek. Significant late July heat and humidity are expected to roll into the region, potentially bringing heat index values near or above 100 degrees.
Around Chicagoland, highs temps are projected to climb into the upper 80s on Tuesday, then they’re forecast to soar into the mid- to upper 90s on Wednesday and Thursday and remain around 90 for the rest of the week and into next weekend.
With the humidity factored in, the heat index in Chicagoland during the middle of the coming week could be something like 105 to 115 degrees. We’ll certainly keep you updated on the coming hot and humid conditions.
