Meth dealer convicted in Rockford gets 17-year prison term

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A Rockford methamphetamine dealer has been sentenced to 17 years in prison after police caught him with a car full of narcotics concealed in his car in a 2024 arrest.

According to the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, Robinson was pulled over on August 6th, 2024, at the intersection of Sandy Hollow Road and 8th Street.

When he was pulled over, police said Robinson, who had been driving, switched seats with a female passenger, since he was driving on an expired license.

Deputies with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of the vehicle and found the drugs hidden in the headliner of the truck. Additionally, digital scales and a large amount of cash were found inside.

Robinson previously had a conviction for drug dealing on his record, making him eligible for an extended sentence. He was ultimately sentenced to 17 years on the charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine and Driving on a Revoked License.

In addition, he will have to serve 18 months on parole at the conclusion of his sentence.
