BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Former LSU star and current Baltimore Orioles broadcaster Ben McDonald provided an update after a fall from a deer stand.
The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame member spoke about his experience and recovery in a social media post.
He began the video by saying he “took a nasty fall.” McDonald said he is fine and had a “severe concussion, I guess.”
The former LSU star said he still doesn’t “remember anything about it.” The fall left him with cracked vertebrae in his back that he said would heal.
McDonald thanked everyone who reached out.
The Orioles broadcaster also mentioned he has a checkup with a neurologist on Tuesday. He added, “If everything goes well, I will be back behind the mic in #Birdland on Friday.”
The former LSU pitcher said he always wears a safety belt when he goes hunting, and in this case, he ended up on his back. McDonald said he got lucky and encouraged others to wear a safety belt.
