Deer Creek Fire crosses 17,000 acres as firefighters increase containment
SAN JUAN COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Firefighters continue to get a handle on the Deer Creek Fire burning near the Utah/Colorado border in San Juan County.
According to Utah Fire Info, the fire is at 17,123 acres and is at 30% containment as of 8 p.m. Sunday. While fire behavior was moderate, crews were able to increase containment thanks to minimal wind and a small amount of rain in the area.

Firefighters will continue to monitor the containment area to make sure there is no increase in fire activity. Crews successfuly completed a dozer line around Peaceful Valley Ranch and air operations continue to drop water on perimeter and interior of the fire.
