CEDAR CITY, Utah (
ABC4) — One person was airlifted with serious injuries after a crash in Cedar City Monday morning, according to Cedar City Police.
At around 7:30 a.m. on July 21, officers responded to a crash on SR-56 at Airport Rd. According to Officer Justin Ludlow, Cedar City Police, a white Nissan SUV was heading westbound on SR-56 and ran a red light.
At the same time, a maroon Lincoln sedan was turning northbound onto Airport Rd. from SR-56.
The Nissan SUV was reportedly launched into a ditch, trapping the driver inside. Police, along with Cedar City fire personnel, extricated the individual. Life Flight also responded, and the person was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.
Their current condition is unknown, according to Ludlow. The driver of the Lincoln sedan was uninjured.
The highway was closed after the crash but has since reopened.
