On Sunday, July 20, officials with the Kentucky State Police (KSP) posted a “Thank a Trooper” message sent by a woman who wanted to express her gratitude for all they do.
“My heart goes out to those who protect us and serve Kentucky,” the excerpt reads. “My heart goes out to the State Trooper who was shot recently. I am praying that he has a full recovery. You all are doing an amazing job. God bless you and your families.”
State police officials said Trooper Remilien, who was injured after allegedly being shot by Guy House on Terminal Drive, is continuing to recover in the hospital.
A joint funeral service in memory of Beverly Gumm and Christina Combs, who were allegedly also killed by House, was held on Saturday at Richmond Road Baptist Church. Both women were later laid to rest at Pilot Knob Cemetery in Berea.
On Saturday, the Lexington Police Department identified three officers who officials said fired their agency-issued weapons and shot House. Sergeant Ross Collins, Officer Kyle Blankenship, and Officer Simon Rankin were all placed on administrative leave per department policy as the shooting investigation continues.
Others who may want to send a “thank you” message to KSP troopers can do so using this form on the state police website.
