In a Facebook post, GCPD reported that its K-9 unit will be taking donations in support of Deputy Sam Fowler on July 30 and 31. Donations can be taken to the intersection of 3rd and Main Streets in Gas City from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on both dates.
According to GCPD, Fowler suffered a heart attack on July 13. GCPD indicated that Fowler is currently hospitalized and in critical condition.
Gas City police plan to give 100% of the funds raised to Fowler’s family to help them pay for medical expenses. GCPD is encouraging those who want more information on the planned fundraiser to email K-9 Sergeant Tommy Riggs at triggs@gascitypolice.net.
Additional information on Fowler and other fundraising efforts being put together for him is available on the Grant County Sheriff’s Chaplaincy Program Facebook page.
