Fourth person confirmed dead in West Jordan house fire, new details released

WEST JORDAN, Utah (ABC4) — New details have been released regarding Friday’s house fire in West Jordan that left three people dead and one hospitalized with severe burns. The fourth individual who was flown to the hospital with severe injuries has been confirmed deceased.

West Jordan police have confirmed that this incident is believed to be an intentional act of arson, and that a fire accelerant was reportedly used.

The incident occurred at a West Jordan home located near 8200 South 6400 West. Three people trapped inside — a man, woman, and male child — were confirmed deceased Friday. A fourth individual — a female child — was flown to the hospital with severe injuries and has now also been confirmed deceased.

“Due to the nature of this horrific event, the Office of the Medical Examiner is still working to positively identify the individuals involved,” a press release from West Jordan Police states. “We believe each of these individuals are part of the same family and there is no danger to the public, related to this incident.”

Authorities are expected to speak on the incident this afternoon. ABC4.com will broadcast live.
