1 dead, 2 missing after 6 go over Dillon Falls near Bend

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Six people went over Dillon Falls on the Deschutes River Saturday, putting in motion a search and rescue operation that rescued three of the people.

responders from the sheriff’s office, Search and Rescue, Bend Fire & Rescue, a drone from Bend police and help with an aerial search from Airlink, authorities said in a release.

One person died at the scene. Three were rescued and rushed by ambulance to St. Charles-Bend, but two other remain missing at this time.

The search and rescue crews worked until sunset and will begin the search again Sunday morning.
