ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested John Guirlando, 52, on weapons charges after reports that he was “spinning a handgun on his finger like a cowboy.”

On July 17, around 1 p.m., officers were called to the 1900 block of Bell School Avenue for the incident. Authorities found the suspect sitting in a wheelchair in his driveway.

Authorities said they found a firearm in his sweater pocket before he started to reach for the weapon.

Officials pulled his hand back and took him into custody.

During an interview, the suspect told officers he had his firearm out because of a verbal dispute with someone.

Investigations revealed Guirlando had his FOID card and concealed carry license revoked in Winnebago County. He was wanted on warrants for failing to appear in court.

Guirlando is charged with possession of a firearm without a FOID card and aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon without a FOID card.
