Pro skaters coming to downtown Portland for 2nd-annual Rockstar Energy Open

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Famous skateboarders are set to take the streets of downtown Portland for the second annual Rockstar Energy Open.

The event kicks off Aug. 15 for three days at Waterfront Park. Organizers say it will feature “elite” skateboarding and musical performances.

Amateur skaters will be able to skate alongside professionals by submitting a video entry to ThePlatfrm.com.

A panel of judges will decide who will join the pros in late July.

“The Rockstar Energy Open was built in partnership with Rockstar Energy to spotlight not only the world’s top pros but also the next generation of skaters,” Kemp Curley with Platfrm said.

The list of professional skaters include:

• Lazer Crawford– Rockstar Energy athlete and defending Men’s Street champion
• Yurin Fuji – Women’s Skateboard Park Best Trick champion and X Games medalist
• Keegan Palmer – Two-time Olympic gold medalist in Men’s Park and Rockstar Energy athlete
• Braden Hoban – Rockstar Energy athlete, came in third last year in Men’s Street
• Miyu Ito – Olympian, X Games Street gold and silver medalist
• Tom Schaar– Olympic silver medalist and 14-time X Games medalist in Men’s Park
• Bryce Wettstein – Two-time Olympian and X Games medalist in Women’s Park
• Ruby Lilley – Olympian and X Games medalist in Women’s Park

This event is free and open to the public, though Rockstar Energy will offer VIP upgrades.
