Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS) said it has been notified that callers have been contacting pet owners about their missing pet, claiming to be from LCAS. They then demand payment for the pet’s medical bills.
Pet owners are asked to pay the callers through Venmo.
LCAS said the caller ID is falsified, and it will never ask people for money over the phone.
Anyone who receives these calls and has doubts should call LCAS at 703-777-0406.
Stray pets are always listed on the LCAS website.
