PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A woman who was reported missing from Prince George’s County was found dead in a river in Virginia, officials said.

The Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that someone found Louise Cox’s body in the Little Wicomico River on July 14.

Early Monday morning, deputies were called to Ferry Road after a car was left unattended. Once on the scene, authorities ran the plate and began searching the area for clues.

Minutes later, deputies found Cox’s body just offshore in the waters of the Little Wicomico River.

The sheriff’s office added that investigators located several items at the scene, including the woman’s driver’s license.

The Prince George’s County Police Department told DC News Now that a missing persons report was filed for Cox on Monday, July 14.

No missing person flyer was released to the public by the police department.

As the investigation continues, the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about this incident to call 804-580-5221.
