APD: Bicyclist dies from injuries after crash in southeast Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 49-year-old man died earlier this week from his injuries following a vehicle-bicycle crash that happened on July 13 in southeast Austin, according to the Austin Police Department.

That man was identified as Reginaldo Perez, according to police.

APD officers responded to the crash between a pickup truck and a bicyclist around 2:30 a.m. on Montopolis Drive and Carnation Terrace, which is near East Riverside Drive. The bicyclist was later identified as Perez. The driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene at the time of the crash, police said.

Perez was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas with “life threatening injuries,” according to police. Then, two days later, he was pronounced dead.

This is now being investigated as Austin’s 51st fatal crash of 2025, according to police.

No other details were available Friday.
