88-year-old motorcyclist dies in crash with logging truck on Oregon highway

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An elderly motorcyclist is dead after police said he crashed into the side of a logging truck in Polk County on Thursday afternoon.

Just after 4 p.m., Oregon State Police troopers responded to reports of a crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Highway 223 and Highway 22W.

Officials said the early investigation found a motorcycle driven by 88-year-old David Jorgensen had attempted to cross the highway and hit the side of a logging truck.

While the driver of the logging truck was uninjured, Jorgensen was declared dead at the scene, officials said.
