1-on-1: Former Hornets star Larry Johnson explains why his ’90s teams in Charlotte were so popular

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — Larry Johnson left Charlotte 29 years ago and didn’t look back. The 1992 Rookie of the Year returned to the Queen City this week, talked about his time with the Hornets. 

He says he still thinks positively of his era in the purple and teal where he was teammates with Muggsy Bogues, Dell Curry and Alonzo Mourning.

“Nothing but fun memories,” he said, but when asked about his departure: “But myself and the owner didn’t see eye-to-eye.”
