ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (
KLFY) — A man from St. Martinville was sentenced to 25 years for third-degree rape.
According to authorities Travis Alexander, 36, of St. Martinville, previously pled guilty to third-degree rape on April 29. A sentencing hearing was set before Judge Roger Hamilton, Jr. on July 14.
Officials said in this case, a juvenile victim reported that Alexander raped her. She was examined
by
a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. DNA testing from a sexual assault kit tested positive for Alexander’s DNA. Additionally, Alexander made inculpatory statements in text messages recovered by law enforcement.
Alexander was sentenced to the maximum sentence of 25 years at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
