Shreveport received a shoutout from Mississippi State quarterback and Evangel alum Blake Shapen.
“I take that very seriously just being from Shreveport, representing the best way that I can,” Shapen said. “Obviously there’s been a lot of big time quarterbacks that have came out of there, especially from Evangel in my high school, so just keeping that on track and being the best version of myself every day.”
The Shreveport area has produced many high-level quarterbacks over the years, Shapen hopes to continue that legacy.
But it’s not just quarterbacks. Many high school football players have gone on to be great in college or the NFL. Shapen is rooting for each and every one of them.
“Anytime anybody from Shreveport succeeds, I’m happy for them,” Shapen said. “That’s what you wish for every year. A new kid to come out of of high school to go to D1 college or wherever they go just to be successful in their own ways is always fun. You always root those people on.”
After suffering a shoulder injury early last season, Shapen is set to return as the Bulldogs leading man.
Mississippi State opens the season on August 30 against Southern Miss.
